This journey has been specially designed for travellers with Welsh ancestry and those who want to immerse themselves in the culture and traditions of Wales. Beginning on the north coast and ending in the capital city of Cardiff, the itinerary combines breathtaking scenery, ancient castles, rural traditions, lively coastal towns, and the warmth of Welsh hospitality. The program is offered on a Half Board basis, with dinners included most evenings, and may be adapted slightly to ensure the best possible balance of meals, entertainment, and authentic experiences.

Arrival & Departure:
Group arrival at Manchester Airport on Day 1. Departure from Cardiff Airport (or transfer to London Heathrow) on Day 12. Alternatively, trevellers can join the group by meeting at our hotel at Llandudno on Day 1. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange transfers from other destinations within the UK, as well as arrangements for an onward journey if not returning from Cardiff or Heathrow Airports.
On arrival at Manchester or Liverpool Airport, you will be greeted by your tour manager and transferred to the seaside resort of Llandudno. After checking in at your hotel, enjoy a leisurely walk along the Victorian promenade before gathering for a welcome dinner accompanied by harp music, your first taste of Welsh culture.

Today begins with a guided visit to Conwy Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a walk along its medieval town walls. Explore Conwy’s charming quayside and Elizabethan townhouse, Plas Mawr, before heading into the Conwy Valley to visit Bodnant Garden. This evening, the tradition of Welsh music comes to life at a private male voice choir performance in a local chapel.

Our journey through Snowdonia National Park begins in the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed before continuing to Portmeirion, the colourful Italianate village created by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. In the afternoon, we travel to Caernarfon to explore its mighty castle, before pausing at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll on Anglesey for a fun photo stop. Return to Llandudno for the final night in North Wales.

Departing Llandudno, we travel to Bala to visit a working farm, where a shepherd and his dogs demonstrate the timeless skills of sheep farming. After a hearty farmhouse lunch, we drive south through the mountain scenery to Aberystwyth, a historic university town on Cardigan Bay. An evening stroll along the seafront rounds off the day.

Board the Vale of Rheidol steam railway for a journey into the Cambrian Mountains, passing through dramatic valleys and forests. In the afternoon, visit the National Library of Wales, home to the nation’s treasures and a vital resource for those exploring Welsh ancestry. Evening at leisure in Aberystwyth.

Choose between a full-day excursion to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in Builth Wells, Wales’s premier cultural event, or enjoy a free day in Aberystwyth. Those staying behind may relax by the seaside or arrange a private genealogy consultation at the National Library.

Leaving Aberystwyth this morning, we make a short stop in Aberaeron for a coffee break by the colourful harbour. We then travel inland to Drefach Felindre, once the heart of the Welsh woollen industry, where we visit the National Wool Museum to learn about weaving and textiles that shaped rural life. By afternoon we continue to Tenby, a charming medieval town, where we visit a traditional lovespoon workshop to discover this unique Welsh craft. Dinner and overnight in Tenby.

Today we journey to St Davids, Britain’s smallest city, to visit its magnificent cathedral and the evocative ruins of the Bishop’s Palace. We also enjoy a short walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, offering breathtaking sea views and dramatic coastal scenery. In the afternoon we return to Tenby, where you will have free time to explore the narrow streets, colourful harbour, or relax by the seaside.

This morning, we travel east, visiting a traditional woollen mill before lunch at a community-run pub or café. On arrival in Cardiff, we spend the afternoon at St Fagans National Museum of History, an outstanding open-air museum where historic buildings from across Wales bring the nation’s past to life.

Our exploration of South Wales begins in the Rhondda Valley at the Coal Mining Experience, where former miners guide you underground to discover the reality of coal mining life. In the afternoon, we visit the Royal Mint Experience, where Britain’s coins are made, and the fascinating history of minting is revealed. Evening at leisure in Cardiff.

On our final full day, we begin with a tour of Cardiff Castle, a medieval fortress transformed into a Gothic Revival masterpiece. A guided foodie tour follows, with tastings of artisan Welsh produce in the city’s markets and arcades. The afternoon is free to explore Cardiff before we gather for a farewell dinner, featuring traditional Welsh food and music.

After breakfast, we transfer to Cardiff Airport or London Heathrow for onward flights, carrying with us lasting memories of the landscapes, music, traditions, and people of Wales — the true Land of Our Fathers.
